About me

Hello, I am Mirabela

Originally from Romania, I have made the UK my home for over a decade and now live in Bournemouth with my husband and our two children. I completed my training in the UK and offer therapy in both English and Romanian. I also speak Spanish, and I value working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, recognising how important language, identity and belonging can be within therapy

Mirabela Dragoev, Romanian Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Poole, Dorset.

My interest in therapy grew from a deep curiosity about human behaviour, resilience and healing. Through both personal and professional development, I came to value the importance of a safe therapeutic relationship where people can feel heard, understood and accepted.

For the past several years, I have dedicated myself to academic study, clinical practice and ongoing professional development. During this time, I have become especially drawn to trauma-informed work, the nervous system, and the connection between emotional and physical wellbeing.

My clinical experience includes working with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties across community, NHS and specialist trauma services. I have worked with UK Counselling Network (UKCN), Poole Community Counselling, and within an NHS GP Practice, supporting clients with a broad range of presenting issues.

I also work with STARS Dorset, a specialist trauma service supporting survivors of rape, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse and domestic abuse. Within this role, I provide trauma-focused therapy using a phase-oriented approach to trauma recovery, with an emphasis on safety, stabilisation and working at the client’s pace.

My work is trauma-informed and grounded in an understanding of the close relationship between the mind, body and nervous system. I am particularly interested in how trauma, attachment, early experiences and life events can shape the way we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us.

Alongside my clinical work, I remain committed to ongoing professional development in trauma, neuroscience and somatic approaches. I am currently completing a Top-Up Degree, furthering my training with Babette Rothschild, and studying the Compassionate Inquiry® Professional Training, developed by Dr Gabor Maté. I chose to undertake these programmes because I wanted to deepen my knowledge by learning from highly respected and influential figures in the field of trauma. For me, ongoing study reflects a genuine commitment to developing as a therapist and ensuring that my work continues to be informed by research, clinical practice and emerging understanding.

My approach is informed by both research and clinical practice. Therapy should be compassionate, collaborative and tailored to each individual, rather than shaped by a one-size-fits-all approach.

At the heart of therapy is the relationship we build together. I aim to offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I understand that finding the right therapist is an important decision, and I hope this has given you a sense of who I am and how I work.

If you are looking for a Romanian therapist or psychotherapist and would feel more comfortable expressing yourself in your native language, you are very welcome to get in touch.

If you feel we may be a good fit, I would be happy to hear from you.
